IIIT Junction Closure Extended: What It Means for Rents and Buyers in Gachibowli
The Hindu reported that Cyberabad Traffic Police have prolonged a road shutdown near IIIT Junction in Gachibowli for three more months, with flyover works possibly running a year or longer. Commutes around the IT corridor get harder for now, which can dampen rental and buyer interest in the closest pockets until the flyover is usable.

Illustrative What happened?
The Hindu reported that Cyberabad Traffic Police have extended a road closure at IIIT Junction in Gachibowli by three more months, effective 27 October 2026. The shutdown covers the stretch running from DLF's first gate to the Gachibowli police station area. It was first imposed for 90 days from 1 July, and the extension is meant to speed up work on a multi-level flyover and underpass. Police said the road may reopen partly, in phases, as work progresses and road space becomes available.
According to the revised advisory of 26 October, traffic coming from Radisson Hotel towards IIIT Junction can go only as far as DLF's first gate. Drivers must then loop through Gachibowli Junction, turn right towards Indiranagar and reach IIIT Junction that way. Vehicles coming from Lingampally towards DLF Road are diverted at the Gachibowli police station and sent through IIIT Junction, Gachibowli Junction and Radisson Junction. Employees using the TCS Non-SEZ (CMC) gate keep their usual entry and exit.
The Hindu and Telangana Today both reported that police expect the flyover and related works to last at least a year and have warned of congestion around the junction. IT employees were told to plan trips in advance and use other routes.

Potential impact
For the next several months, longer and less predictable drives into the Gachibowli IT cluster could make homes right around the junction less attractive to tenants who commute daily. Landlords nearby may find it harder to hold rents, and buyers may bargain harder or hold off. How strong this is will depend on how many people actually change where they live, and no data in our records measures that yet.
If the flyover and underpass are finished as planned, travel through this junction should become smoother, which usually helps the neighbourhoods that depend on it. But this is a road project still under construction, with a timeline police describe only as at least a year. Delays are common, so any recovery in demand should not be taken as certain.
