Illustrative What happened?
The New Indian Express reported that two consortiums have submitted bids for the General Consultant role on Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2, Package-1. One bid comes from Hill International, Nippon Koei and TYPSA. The other comes from Ayesa and Aarvee Associates. Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited invited the bids, and the contract would run for four years.
According to the paper, officials will first assess the technical proposals, including presentations on method and work plan. Only then will they shortlist bidders and open the financial bids. The state government is likely to pick a winner in the first week of November.
The package covers 63 km across four corridors: Nagole to the airport, Raidurg to Kokapet Neopolis, MGBS to Chandrayangutta, and LB Nagar to Hayathnagar. The consultant would support tendering, design review, supervision of civil and systems work, and monitoring of cost, quality and safety.
Which sectors are affected?
- Hyderabad Metro Phase-2, Package-1
- Nagole to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport corridor
- Raidurg to Kokapet Neopolis corridor
- MGBS to Chandrayangutta corridor
- LB Nagar to Hayathnagar corridor

Potential impact
Appointing a consultant is an early administrative milestone. It does not start construction, fix a completion date or guarantee funding. Buyers should treat it as a sign that the project is still being worked on, not as proof that the lines will open on time.
If the corridors do move into tendering and building, localities along them could see firmer demand over the years, since commute time matters to home seekers. Our data puts the Hyderabad average at 9800 per sq ft and rental yield at 3.6 percent, but any corridor effect would be gradual and uneven. Delays or route changes could weaken it, and prices near the lines may already reflect some of this expectation.
