Power-Cut Reprieve Over Fire NOCs: What It Means for Buyers in Greater Noida
GNIDA has given two Greater Noida societies one month to fix fire-safety paperwork before their electricity is cut. The case shows that a missing fire clearance can threaten basic services, not just a legal file.

Illustrative What happened?
Hindustan Times reported that GNIDA gave residents of Plumeria Garden Estate and Migsun Ultima in Sector Omicron 3 a month's extension. Around 1,812 families live in the two societies. Their power was due to be disconnected on October 13 over alleged fire-safety deficiencies, after GNIDA told NPCL to act on October 7.
According to Hindustan Times, NPCL served notices on October 10, and GNIDA wrote to the discom on October 12 asking it to hold off for one month. Both societies had told the authority that applications for fire department clearance were already filed. The Times of India reported that residents disputed the authority's findings and blamed builders for not handing over certificates.
Hindustan Times quoted a resident saying only three towers at Plumeria Garden Estate lack the fire NOC. Neither society currently has a functioning residents' association, according to the paper, and a former association head described an unresolved handover dispute with the developer. Those allegations could not be independently verified.
Which sectors are affected?
- Greater Noida
- Sector Omicron 3
- Plumeria Garden Estate
- Migsun Ultima
- Apartment societies without fire NOCs
Potential impact
This is a one-month postponement, not a resolution. If the fire department issues the certificates within the window, the disconnection threat should lapse and the effect on prices is likely to be small. If it does not, residents could again face a notice, and that would weigh on resale interest in the affected societies.
The larger signal is for other Greater Noida societies where handover paperwork is incomplete. Buyers may start asking for fire NOC copies before booking or purchase, which could widen the gap between fully cleared projects and those with pending documents. How far this spreads depends on whether GNIDA widens its checks, which the reports do not say.
