Pink Line Underground Trials Near: What It Means for Buyers and Tenants in Bengaluru

Deccan Herald reported that systems work on Bengaluru's underground Pink Line is nearly done and trial runs may start in November-December. Opening is still targeted for March 2027, so any effect on homes and rents depends on that date holding.

What happened?

Deccan Herald reported on 5 October 2026 that BMRCL is finishing systems installation on the 13.76-km underground stretch from Dairy Circle to Nagavara. This stretch belongs to the 21.25-km Pink Line, and its revised deadline is March 2027. Tunnelling ended in October 2024 and track-laying in May 2026.

According to the paper, officials said the third-rail power supply has been installed and energised at eight of the 12 stations, from Dairy Circle up to Pottery Town, including MG Road. The last four stations, from Tannery Road to Nagavara, are expected to be done in about two weeks. Train movement between Dairy Circle and MG Road is planned in the coming weeks for clearance tests.

The report adds that platform screen doors, a first for Bengaluru, are still to be fitted. The equipment was said to be on its way from China, and BMRCL gave no installation timeline. Full-line trials are expected only after all systems are integrated. Statutory approvals, including rolling stock sanction and CMRS authorisation, come after that. The line is also expected to give the city its fourth metro interchange.

Which sectors are affected?

  • Bengaluru Namma Metro Pink Line underground section
  • Dairy Circle to Nagavara corridor
  • MG Road
  • Bengaluru residential and rental markets

Distance from the projects

Distances as sourced on our research pages.

Project To Distance
Prestige Tech Cloud BMRCL Airport Depot 1.4 km
Sobha Royal Crest Nayandahalli Metro Station 2.4 km
Prestige Suncrest Bommasandra Metro Station 2.5 km
Sobha Windsor Hope Farm Circle Metro Station 2.8 km
Prestige Park Grove Whitefield Railway Station 2.8 km
Prestige Southern Star Singasandra Metro Station 3 km

Potential impact

Buyers and landlords near the line's stations may start pricing in the metro as trials get closer. Interest in homes and rentals along the north-south stretch through MG Road could pick up, but how much is hard to say. The city-wide average is about 12,800 per sq ft, and a metro premium, if any, will differ sharply from one micro-market to the next.

The schedule carries real risk. Platform screen doors have yet to be installed, indoor signalling work continues, and approvals are still pending. The Pink Line's elevated section also missed several deadlines, according to the same report. A plan nearing completion is not an operating line, so treat early price talk with caution until the safety approvals are in.
